About

I am Dr Ahmed Osama Basil Al-Mashhadani, a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Northampton and a researcher in programmable networks, Quality of Experience, applied AI and connected systems.

Research with a human outcome

My research explores how intelligent, programmable infrastructure can make digital services more efficient, measurable and fair. A central theme is the relationship between network behaviour and the experience perceived by people using multimedia and connected applications.

Better network decisions begin by connecting technical performance with the quality experienced by users.

Research interests

  • Fairness in multimedia and networking
  • Quality of Service and Quality of Experience
  • Software-defined networking, OpenFlow and P4
  • Applied AI, classification and predictive analytics
  • 5G, Internet of Things and smart-system applications
  • Virtual testbeds for evaluating theoretical models

Teaching and supervision

My teaching connects computer-science foundations with current technology practice across computer communications, operating systems, software engineering, media technology and collaborative projects. I am interested in supervising student research that advances networking, intelligent systems, IoT and data-driven applications.
